Over 40 years ago, we built the first contour cutting machines that cut shaped parts from porous materials using a cutting wire developed by us. The cutting wire runs in special wheels designed with elastomer plastic and electronically balanced to achieve circumferential speeds of over 300 kilometers per hour. This cutting wire separates cold, unlike "Glühdraht", even materials that are not thermoplastics, meaning they cannot be melted. Thus, porous materials can be cut into any two-dimensional shapes or plates in soft or hard settings. Materials of this type include soft and hard foam based on PU, EPS, PE, melamine, phenolic resin, padding; inorganic materials such as mineral and glass wool as well as glass foam.
