The Westfalen Group is a technology company in the energy sector with a total of 23 subsidiaries and affiliated companies in Germany and neighboring European countries. Gases The gases division has grown far beyond its original sales area with numerous branches, sales offices, warehouses, and plants, as well as subsidiaries in France, Benelux, Austria, Switzerland, and the Czech Republic. The Westfalen Group produces and distributes approximately 300 gases and gas mixtures for nearly all applications in industry and crafts, food production, laboratories, pharmaceuticals, and medicine. This includes particularly the air gases nitrogen, oxygen, and argon, which are produced in air separation plants in Hörstel, Laichingen, and Le Creusot in France, as well as acetylene and hydrogen. Carbon dioxide (CO2) and helium are also becoming increasingly important. The development of innovative gas applications that optimize industrial processes is of high significance. Refrigerants and heat transfer fluids for cooling and air conditioning technology complement the versatile product range. Energy Supply With the Westfalengas brand, the company is one of the leading liquefied gas supply companies in Germany. Westfalengas is suitable for over 2,000 applications: as off-grid thermal energy – also in combination with the solar thermal systems from its own sales program – for heating workshops and agricultural buildings for thermal processes in industry and commerce, as well as for vehicle propulsion energy (autogas/LPG). The company supplies approximately 900 of the total 6,700 public autogas filling stations nationwide. These are stations of various brands and companies. The company also plans, installs, and supplies autogas filling stations for corporate vehicle fleets. Relatively new in the energy supply sector is the distribution of natural gas and electricity: this particularly targets private consumers as well as small and medium-sized enterprises. Filling Stations In the filling station sector, the Westfalen Group has the largest network of independent brand filling stations in Germany with 260 stations – predominantly in North Rhine-Westphalia and Lower Saxony. By the way, about 100 of these filling stations also offer autogas (LPG) and achieve sales well above the German average. The Westfalen Service Card, a fuel card for companies with vehicle fleets, is accepted as a cashless payment method at around 5,500 filling stations (Westfalen, Markant, Agip, Aral, Avia, OMV, and Total) nationwide.
