ULTRAMATIC AG currently employs 8 to 10 people and focuses on consulting, planning, and selling turnkey systems and individual machines. Additionally, assembly, prompt service, and spare parts deliveries are important activities. In-house production has largely been abandoned. A close and long-standing collaboration with various subcontractors ensures high standards of quality and functionality. In 1929, GOTTLIEB PLÜSS founded a mechanical workshop in the industrial facility HARD in Winterthur-Wülflingen for the production of pulling machines for horsehair, which was commonly used for making mattresses and upholstering furniture. In 1941, Paul Ketterer took over as workshop manager and further developed the company, building a successful export business after the war. From 1956, he ran the company on his own account. Sensing the emerging market saturation in the previous field, he developed a new type of mechanical scales that were excellently suited for pre-packaging fruits and vegetables. The rise of self-service stores and a large order from a retailer favored the success of the company, which moved into its own new building in Winterthur-Wülflingen in 1962. In 1964, H. Kessler joined the company, took over sales and commercial management, and replaced P. Ketterer as the owner of the now ULTRA Maschinenbau, H. Kessler & Co. in 1972. Throughout the 1980s, mechanical scales were replaced by electronic ones, and thanks to patented machines, a new impetus was given to the production and distribution of mixed salad systems. Space constraints and unsuitable structural conditions made the move to our new building in Winterthur-Hegi unavoidable in 1990. In 1993, economic reasons forced a fresh start. ULTRAMATIC AG ensured the continued support of numerous customers with the existing key employees, organized service and spare parts deliveries, and has since achieved a solid market position as a representative of renowned foreign machine manufacturers. Today's sales program is of interest not only to the fruit and vegetable industry but also to all food processing companies that need to weigh and package products for self-service sales.
