The company Rheinische Industriedesign UG is a product developer and importer of modern e-mobility products. E-bikes (pedelecs), electric bicycles, and e-balancers (often known under the protected brand name "Segways"). Under the brand name "Volthor," e-bikes are marketed as solid, well-developed value-for-money winners at extremely competitive prices. We do not focus on luxury but rather on extreme price points: Our products are made from robust, modern steel frame technology and classic batteries instead of expensive lithium-ion batteries. Prices are below €300 net purchase price for specialty retail, placing them almost in the range of traditional bicycles. This allows for entirely new price points to be established. The technology is well-established; for example, steel frames are considered to be more forgiving than lightweight but expensive aluminum frames. The slightly higher weight is compensated by the advantage that the material does not break under short-term overuse. Steel constructions are flexible and more load-bearing. We manufacture our e-balancers exclusively according to the American certification system "UL2272." As of early 2017, this is the only certification worldwide that provides safety regulations for the production of modern e-mobility vehicles like our e-balancers and similar vehicles. All our vehicles are certified according to the strict American standard UL2272.
