ORBITER600: 360° Surface Inspection of Round Parts ORBITER600 is a vision system for 360° surface inspection in a continuous flow. It is typically used for round housings that are produced in high volumes and at second intervals, for example, by a forming press. After the forming process, the surface of the parts is checked for damage. Possible damages include: dents, scratches, material overlaps, zinc flaking, or abrasions. Omni Control has developed a compact and powerful vision system for this purpose: ORBITER600. Unlike conventional optical 360° inspections, ORBITER600 can handle both reflective and matte surfaces, as well as combinations of the two. OMIS: Multi-Camera Systems The OMIS systems have been developed for the inspection of complex components. Up to 20 cameras capture sensitive areas of a large injection-molded part, for example, to verify completeness. The cameras are integrated into a folding housing to enable automatic handling of the parts with a portal robot. In a similar setup, the correct assembly of attachments is checked. Additionally, a 3D evaluation using light sectioning is performed for selective areas. OSC: Surface Inspection in Continuous Flow OSC (Optical Surface Control) are vision systems for rapid surface inspection with high throughput. The flat surfaces of, for example, flattened motor housings or other flat objects are checked for damages such as dents, scratches, material overlaps, zinc flaking, or abrasions. The parts simply pass through the closed inspection cell (no cycling) and are optically inspected there. The result is available upon exiting the inspection cell. LISCA-3D: Applications with 3D Line Camera LISCA-3D systems are used for inspecting smooth or structured surfaces, where classic 2D grayscale image processing reaches its limits – such as with matte and black surfaces. The surface of a safety-relevant rubber-metal connection element, for example, must be inspected for damages, especially along the adhesive bond between rubber and metal. There must be no inclusions on the entire rubber surface. The deep matte black part is stretched and then rotated under a 3D line camera. The image provides a layout with height information, which is then evaluated. LISCA-Pro: Line Camera for Structured Surfaces With LISCA-Pro, it is possible to inspect structured surfaces of round parts. The entire surface of, for example, a gear must be checked, consisting of the tooth head, tooth root, and tooth flanks. To ensure that the line camera can capture all surface areas independently during rotation, each area is illuminated with its own color. This allows three images to be taken simultaneously.
