The company Hugo Kämpf GmbH is based in Thüngen, Bavaria, in the Main-Spessart region, 25 km north of Würzburg and 30 km west of Schweinfurt, right in the heart of Franconian wine country. Here in Thüngen, oak sawn timber has been produced for over 140 years. Our principle is: the highest standards of quality to convince our long-term customers. History of Hardwood Processing in Thüngen In the shadow of Thüngen Castle, on the grounds of the old castle mill, the "Sawmill in Thüngen" was established in 1875. In the summer of 1875, the first oak log was fed into the splitting saw powered by water mechanics. The oaks that the company soon specialized in came from the nearby forests, particularly from the vast stocks of the Gramschatzer Forest. Consistent quality is the result of careful wood management and extensive experience in wood drying. For 12 years, we have adhered to the strict guidelines of the FSC to monitor the sustainability of our valuable raw material - wood. Together with our customers, we continuously face new challenges. In collaboration with architects in high-end interior design, we have developed new grades or modified the natural color of oak over the past years.
