It took a lot of courage and pioneering spirit to establish a timber trade and a planing mill during the most difficult years, right after the devastating global economic crisis of 1929 around 1933. A young, dynamic Gottlieb Nestle from the small Swabian town of Dornstetten saw an opportunity and a market gap here. This dynamism has remained a core aspect of the company to this day, combined with a high degree of adaptability, always oriented towards the market. They began by offering pre-planed wood products to carpenters, developing with a focus on customer wishes – and soon grew into a substantial company with customers reaching as far as the Ruhr area. Even during the heavy setbacks of wartime, they remained true to this path, with a certain foresight for the market and the general economic development. In 1956, a production line for escape rods was established within the company. In 1982, measuring clamps were added to the product range, a business sector in forestry where Gottlieb NESTLE GmbH is still the global market leader today. The company continued to evolve into a production facility for wood and metal processing, which in 1984 expanded into the manufacturing of digital angle measuring devices and laser devices for construction surveying in high-rise and interior construction. In 1990, tripod production at the highest level began in a joint venture in Hungary. NESTLE tripods and surveying accessories are firmly grounded worldwide in connection with high-precision geodetic instruments and are reliable partners everywhere. Since 1996, the company has been ISO 9001 certified, and this path was further pursued in the context of continuous quality optimization towards DIN EN ISO 9001-2000 in Dornstetten, as well as in Hungary. Today, the company, with Bernd Nestle as managing director, represents modern corporate management with a quality-oriented product portfolio.
