DANIELE CERÙ

Daniele Cerù was born in Camaiore in the province of Lucca (Italy) in 1970. His artistic career began in the 1990s, with a series of works that depict fantastic landscapes and sinuous female images. In his paintings, Cerù includes elements reminiscent of Tuscan landscapes, and objects and events from his childhood appear throughout his works. A recurring protagonist is "the maiden," a silent witness who accompanies him throughout his artistic journey. His production of oil on canvas, while maintaining spontaneity and imagination, gradually becomes more elaborate as an expression of the joy of living, accompanied by new objects and characters that are part of a broader panorama. These include landscapes and architectural or cultural elements from regions outside Tuscany, where forms and colors become more vibrant and intense. His continuous search for original techniques drives him to create mixed techniques on fresco. In these works, curved lines and symbols, already easy to guess in his oil paintings, are even more pronounced, emerging in the foreground as if they were rising from the underlying paint. From these works, Cerù creates his first bas-reliefs that transform into true sculptures. The Raku ceramic technique, a Japanese method, produces various works, and with ceramics, he creates a collection of decorated plates.
