The European Salt Company is a modern industrial enterprise. The European Salt Company works with a product that is a miracle of nature: sea salt. Water from the Adriatic Sea is drawn from powerful pumps and first directed into evaporating basins and then into salting basins, where, under the sun's rays and with the action of the wind, it evaporates and gradually reaches a higher temperature and salinity saturation level between 25.5 and 30° Baumé (salinity saturation-concentration index), resulting in the deposition of sodium chloride. The residual water is removed, and from the bottom of the basins, sea salt is collected. From 1 cubic meter of seawater, 27 kg of salt is obtained. The salt is then piled into large mounds that resemble white snow-covered mountains, from which it is taken for further processing. Depending on its intended use, the salt is then washed, centrifuged, dried, ground, sifted, enriched with iodine and anti-caking agents, and packaged for sale.
