The company VAD Anlagenbau is a young enterprise with tradition. This apparent contradiction can be explained by the history and the division of the company VAD Beschichtungstechnik, which has existed since 1963, into two business areas. We design and manufacture complete solutions in the fields of apparatus, plant, and mechanical engineering, vacuum, and thermal technology, as well as custom solutions based on customer specifications. We place great importance on maximum flexibility and customer proximity. Our strength lies in special constructions and prototypes, where changes must still be possible even at the "last minute." In 1963, Richard Vad founded the company VAD Beschichtungstechnik in Kleinostheim. It focused on corrosion protection for hot water boilers, containers, and heat exchangers using heat-curing epoxy resin coating systems. In the early 1970s, the boiler coating sector nearly came to a standstill due to the first major construction crisis after the war. In search of compensation opportunities, the idea for a pore-free coating of the shell side of bundle heat exchangers emerged, which was secured by two patents. Normally, a heat exchanger is first manufactured by an apparatus builder and then transported to the coater for the coating to be applied. However, a pore-free coating of the shell side is no longer possible, as no coating material can be introduced into the capillaries between the tube plate bore and the tube. For pore-free coating, it is therefore necessary to carry out certain coating processes before assembling the tube bundle. It quickly became apparent that multiple back-and-forth transport between the coater and the apparatus builder is not only time-consuming but also very costly. As a consequence, it was decided to take the apparatus construction for this specific segment into their own hands. Machines were acquired, and the necessary welder certifications were obtained. Soon, not only heat exchangers made of ordinary steel were built and coated, but also stainless steels, pure nickel, and Hastelloy were used as materials. In 2007, the decision was made to modernize the now significantly outdated machinery. As part of the substantial investments, the company was divided into two business areas. The company VAD Beschichtungstechnik retains the well-established market segment of corrosion protection. The newly founded company VAD Anlagenbau resumes its activities in apparatus construction with renewed vigor and expands them due to the manufacturing capabilities of the new machinery to encompass the entire plant, machine, and mold construction.
