THERMO-CONTROL KÖRTVÉLYESSY GMBH

The thermo-control Körtvélyessy GmbH was founded in April 1983 by Dr. László Körtvélyessy in Kleve on the Lower Rhine. Having fled Hungary in 1971, he worked as a research associate at Degussa. In 1974, he took on a senior position as a developer at Ipsen in Kleve. In addition to many other patents, three principles led to a technical and economic breakthrough in temperature measurement. The first is the thermoelectric principle, which redefines the generation of thermoelectric voltage. In summary, the highest voltage is generated at the steepest temperature gradient. The second principle derives from the above model. It addresses the drift of thermoelements, which had been a significant problem in heat treatment until that point. Through experiments and calculations, Dr. Körtvélyessy altered the diameter of the two thermoelements. Aging is still present; however, both wires now age at the same rate, ensuring that the correct thermoelectric voltage is always generated. The third principle is the introduction of very thin and separate ceramic protection tubes in a connection head, as opposed to the thick ceramic protection tubes that were common then and now, as well as the introduction of an empty tube, which is equipped with a test thermoelement for control purposes. Therefore, thermo-control thermoelements can be checked without hesitation during operation, saving time and costs.
