After Paul Wilke decided in March 1966 to take over the sales representation of the then still operating paint factory under "Pröll und Messerschmidt" for the East Westphalia region, he settled in Bielefeld, coming from the Ruhr area. As a trained machine fitter, Paul Wilke was all the more dependent on the support of customers, as he was selling products that were rather unfamiliar to him. This period particularly shaped the partnership and often resulting personal relationship with customers, which remains the highest priority in the "Wilke corporate philosophy" to this day. "Only a satisfied customer is a good customer," is the motto when asked about the attitude towards customer service. Not only for this reason does "Wilke GmbH" consciously see itself as a regional provider, as the company can only ensure customer proximity and thus service for the customer in this way. When the premises became too cramped in the early 70s, the decision was made to relocate to Schloss Holte and expand for the first time. When the building was completed in 1973, the new domicile was moved into with some skepticism. Moving from the center to a peripheral area meant less accessibility for many customers. Nevertheless, there was no noticeable decline in activities, which can likely be attributed to the increased personal commitment of the owner couple, as well as their good reputation among customers. Additionally, it was complicated by the decision at Pröll to part ways with the sales model of commercial agents and offer the representatives a partnership as independent dealers, marking the beginning of the Wilke family's independence. Just ten years later, in 1984, the business premises became too small once again. With limited space, the only alternative was to relocate again. They moved to the current location of the company in Bielefeld-Sennestadt and built a hall on greenfield land with ideal transport connections. At the same time, they decided to adopt the corporate form of a GmbH. The business was expanded, and new product lines were added to the range. This was also the time when the sons, especially the older one, increasingly joined the company. With his appreciated skills as a technician among customers, the company received valuable support. Now also increasingly active in equipment trading, the necessary exhibition space was lacking. With the entry of the second son, there was also a shortage of offices. This prompted the Wilke family to expand again, leading to the construction of a new exhibition and office building.
