The origin of the factory in the forested and water-rich area of Grünhainichen in the Erzgebirge dates back to 1880, when the company Siegel & Haase was founded. A few years earlier, the Saxon Friedrich Gottlob Keller had invented the wood pulp process that is still commonly used today. Wood replaced rags as a raw material and made the mass production of paper possible.
In 1890, production began with writing and printing papers, and over time, the types of paper changed.
From 1972 onwards, fine parchment and parchment substitute papers were produced in Grünhainichen.
Since the establishment of GRÜNPERGA Papier GmbH as a company of Golzern Holding in 2001, it has developed dynamically. In 2004, the portfolio was expanded to include crepe papers. Two paper machines have been running continuously since then.
The high-quality specialty papers with their versatile applications are in international demand - customers appreciate the reliable and innovative collaboration with GRÜNPERGA.
