“Esprit Apéritifs Basilic” is a flavored drink made from wine and fresh basil, a recipe passed down through generations by the family of Olivier PARET, an expert in oenology and creator of apéritifs. This tradition has its roots in the heart of the Auvergne volcanoes. As a child, he watched his grandmother prepare this unique beverage, which helped withstand the winter cold while also refreshing and quenching thirst during hot summer days. Using basil, a royal herb known for its antioxidant and digestive properties, and wine, Olivier has captured the nobility of this drink in “Esprit Basilic,” with its floral notes combined with the strength of the earth. The blend with wine from the South-West, sourced from the vineyards of the Sauternes and Monbazillac regions, adds delicacy, freshness, and life to this festive beverage. The Sémillon and Sauvignon are the two grape varieties used: Sémillon (70%) brings roundness and complexity, while Sauvignon (30%) develops aromas of white flowers and citrus. These two grape varieties, cultivated in the clay-limestone soils of Haute-Aquitaine, reveal the subtlety of the marriage between basil and their aromas of acacia flowers, honey, and hazelnut. “Esprit Basilic” has charmed the French and won the hearts of many international enthusiasts.
