Through joint actions, significant synergy effects and advantages for our customers arise – worldwide! 1866 The locksmith Andreas Bizer, born on September 2, 1839, joins the weighing workshop Gebrüder Bizer in Ebingen, then part of the Balingen district, and is commissioned by the city of Balingen to build a bridge scale. By the time the large platform scale is completed the following year, he meets his future wife on site. The city scale is now displayed in the "Museum for Weighing and Weight" in Zollern Castle. 1868 Andreas Bizer – now already a mechanic – becomes a citizen of Balingen and registers his own small company under "A. Bizer, Manufacture of Bridge, Table, and Beam Scales" in the commercial register on November 7. On November 19, 1868, Andreas Bizer marries Anna Elisabetha Wagner from Balingen. 1871 With the introduction of the metric system of measures and weights, a calibration facility is established in Balingen under the supervision of master calibrator Andreas Bizer. In 1881, the Bizer couple welcomes their daughter Anna, who marries the later Professor Wilhelm Kraut in 1906. 1875 The son of a tinsmith, Wilhelm Kraut, shows early artistic and technical talents, passes the journeyman's examination at the age of 15, and is allowed to attend courses in drawing, modeling, geometry, arithmetic, and calculations. He learns the trade of low-voltage electrician. In 1898, he takes over the technical management of the construction of the power plant in Nürtingen. While renovating the Balingen power plant, he meets his future wife Anna Bizer. 1906 For 25,474 gold marks, Andreas Bizer sells the scale manufacturing workshop to his son-in-law. With 8 employees, they initially produce mainly table and platform scales, most of which are sold to Switzerland. 1923 Wilhelm Kraut Jr., later honorary senator of the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen, takes over the management of the company at just 17 years old when his father falls seriously ill. What he brings to this task is his diploma and award from the Spöhrer Higher Commercial School in Calw, his talent, and youthful enthusiasm. 1924 Wilhelm Kraut, together with his masters Hauser and Schlaich, develops the world's first inclined switch weight scale. This groundbreaking development is patented in 1925 and quickly becomes indispensable in trade, as it eliminates the need to handle loose weights. 1927 Ahead of its time: a technical vision of the Bizerba engineers, which found its ultimate completion with the electronic scales of the 1960s.
