"Forget marble, think concrete." It was twenty years ago. I was in Verona, at the big Marble Fair, Marmomacc. I wanted to know everything about marble. And Mario Plante at the HTC booth told me: "No Marc, think concrete." Okay Mario, why not think concrete? So I took a plane and went to Sweden to understand what HTC was offering me. I bought a HTC 650 and started with "exposed concrete." That's what the Swedes called their finishing method. A method that highlights the stones that make up the concrete. By sheer coincidence, Inter-Beton is also interested in "exposed concrete." They have just launched a subsidiary to develop aesthetic concrete. They contacted me, and I became their designated polisher. And I polished concrete from North to South, East to West. One day, on a job site, an old Italian mason looked at me with interest. What I was doing closely resembled what he worked on when he was young in his native Friuli: terrazzo! We hit it off. And I said to him: "Teach me!"
