Manufacturer of custom rigid contact lenses, 2M Contact was born from the merger in 1991 of two French manufacturers: Laboratoire Raspail, established in 1961, and Laboratoire Marzac, founded in 1968. Always on the lookout for innovations, 2M Contact began exploring a new lens geometry for keratoconus in 2003: the Rose K range. The laboratory became a pioneer in France for these specialty lenses, which, due to their successful adaptation, quickly became the most prescribed lenses in the world for irregular corneas. In the 1990s, Europtic expanded its range by distributing lenses from the British laboratory Cantor + Nissel, the European leader in the manufacture of prosthetic lenses. Prosthetic lenses are extremely specific: they allow, through the reproduction of an opaque iris, to mask corneal scars or malformations. They can also feature an opaque black pupil if needed, which helps eliminate, for example, double vision. The Europtic laboratory: Specializing in custom contact lenses, has been manufacturing custom rigid lenses for over 35 years. In 2016, Dencott, established in 1955, acquired two laboratories, 2M Contact and Europtic, along with Ocellus, offering a wide range of custom gas-permeable contact lenses including Spherical lenses, Keratoconus lenses, Toric lenses, and Post-Graft lenses.
